SWEEPING
The old fashioned broom is still a valuable part of everyday maintenance of any floor surface, Stone included. It is very important to remove soil from floor before it is ground into the floor surface. Soil is abrasive. The more often soil is removed; the longer the floor will retain its original appearance. Use a broom with a bristle that matches your floor. A soft broom or brush is recommended for smooth surfaces. A medium to soft bristle is ideal for textured surfaces.VACUUMING
A good vacuum cleaner works better on textured surfaces than a broom and is very efficient. Vacuum horizontal surfaces when large areas are involved as this process can be faster than sweeping.DAMP MOPPING
A damp mop is capable of picking up microscopic abrasive soil and potential staining agents. Damp mopping is recommended on a regular basis for most smooth surfaces. Best done after sweeping.WASHING
It is necessary to wash floors regularly. Situations will dictate frequency. The most frequent problems encountered with Stone floors are related to the floor simply ‘not getting effectively washed often enough’.RINSING
Rinsing is one of the (if not the most) critical steps in regular floor maintenance. Dirty mop water residue is common and the cause of most complaints. A ‘two bucket’ rinse method is highly effective in keeping floors from greying out, due to soil residues.Note: The above instructions apply not only to floor coverings but also to any “Spanish Stone Design” surface such as; tables, desks, fireplaces and others. The proud owner should adapt the cleaning techniques to suit The “Exclusive and Unique Spanish Stone Piece” Tables used in outdoor areas, can be easily cleaned with a Neutral PH detergent or pure soap and water, tables can be hosed down for a thorough rinse afterwards. Always treat spills on stone surfaces as soon as possible to prevent staining. Remember that natural stones are naturally porous.
